Words That Wander
Happy New Year and welcome to a new creative section of my newsletter, Words That Wander. Some people might call it poetry—here’s a poem for the new year.
A Poem for the New Year
The new year dawns, its light unfurls,
A sacred dance of ancient worlds.
From Bereshit to where we stand,
The Torah guides with outstretched hand.
A time to build, a time to heal,
To mend what’s broken, make justice real.
To lift the voices long denied,
And stand with courage, side by side.
Mountains call with whispered grace,
Echoes of journeys we yearn to trace.
Hiking paths where stories blend,
Resilience grows, and roots transcend.
Guitar strings hum, a soulful plea,
A song of hope and equity.
Notes that carry dreams anew,
Of a world where love and truth shine through.
From the ruins of the storm-tossed past,
We rebuild a future built to last.
A sukkah’s shade, a rainbow's light,
Promise renewed in darkest night.
This year, may blessings overflow,
May seeds of justice take root and grow.
May hearts be open, hands entwined,
In the work of healing all humankind.
beautiful, i appreciate it.
