Welcome to Our Practice:
As we begin this journey through the Shir Shel Yom (Daily Psalms), I invite you to pause and prepare yourself for this practice of reflection. Each Psalm in this guide is an invitation to align with the rhythms of creation. And if you would like to know more about why these Psalms were chosen, here is a source sheet from Mishnah Tamid that will help.
Today is Sunday, and we will focus on the Psalm for today, Psalm 24. Approach today’s Psalm with an open heart and a sense of wonder and let it ground you in gratitude. Hold the idea to see creation as a gift and a responsibility and to carry this awareness into your day.
Remember, this practice by design is meant to be simple and accessible. Begin by reading Psalm 24. Then, move through the reflections, guidance, and actions this guide offers. The steps offered are to help you integrate the Psalm’s teachings into your day.
Engage with the prompts, reflect on the question, and may Psalm 24 inspire you to see the extraordinary in the ordinary.
Let’s begin
Psalm 24
Of David. A psalm.
The earth is GOD’s and all that it holds,
the world and its inhabitants. For [God] founded it upon the ocean,
established it upon the rivers.Who may ascend GOD’s mountain?
Who may stand in that holy place?—Anyone who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who has not taken a false oath by My life
or sworn deceitfully. They shall carry away a blessing from GOD,
a just reward from God, their deliverer.Such is the circle of those who turn to You,
Jacob, who seek Your presence. Selah.O gates, lift up your heads!
Up high, you everlasting doors,
so the King of glory may come in!Who is the King of glory?—
GOD, mighty and valiant,
GOD, valiant in battle.O gates, lift up your heads!
Lift them up, you everlasting doors,
so the King of glory may come in!Who is the King of glory?—
GOD of Hosts
is truly the King of glory! Selah.
