This week's Torah portion, Pinchas, is one of the most morally complex in our tradition.
Honoring and not shutting out divergent opinions does not seem to be part of mainstream Judaism right now. Reminding us of our tradition is important.
Beautiful 😍
Thank you for this. Being able to hold divergent truths is so important and understanding that perfection and absolutes are not in our reality.
My husband wrote a beautiful melody to words my Rabbi Mordechai Kaplan, ending with verses from Micah...
From the cowardice that shrinks from new truth
From the laziness that is content with half truths
From the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth
Oh God of truth deliver us
We must do justly
And love mercy and walk humbly with our God.
