Honoring and not shutting out divergent opinions does not seem to be part of mainstream Judaism right now. Reminding us of our tradition is important.

Thank you for this. Being able to hold divergent truths is so important and understanding that perfection and absolutes are not in our reality.

My husband wrote a beautiful melody to words my Rabbi Mordechai Kaplan, ending with verses from Micah...

From the cowardice that shrinks from new truth

From the laziness that is content with half truths

From the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth

Oh God of truth deliver us

We must do justly

And love mercy and walk humbly with our God.
