Black Americans have fought to make real the never fulfilled promise of Democracy since the first slave ships brought humans in chains to the "New World" over 400 years ago. It is worth remembering that the economic foundations that built this mighty nation, tobacco, rum, and slave labor, were all dependent on the blood, sweat, and stolen lives of Black people.
Today, we face the same forces of soulless greed and cruel disregard of human needs killing some of the remaining aspirations of all humans for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion that thrives under Democracy but dies under rule by a wealthy elite.
