Thank you for these words. It is always good to be reminded to engage in real conversation, not anticipating what I want to tell you, rather hearing you and offering a thoughtful and heartfelt response. As a congregational consultant, I am frequently creating opportunities for participants in congregations to listen to each other. They cannot manage and overcome conflict if they aren’t listening. They cannot communicate a dream for the future if they aren’t listening. We have to do that (listen) in order to function in a healthy way. Thank you!

Before I injured my back, I would avoid friends and family whose political beliefs did not match mine. When I was in the hospital and after I got released, these friends and family have been very supportive and kind. Old friends from high school checking in everyday. My sister, who I thought was not loving enough, also checking in to make sure I am ok. These people have always been kind and loving. I was the one, who refused to let them love me.

Thank you, rabbi. I needed this and will be keeping it close. Shabbat Shalom.
