A great overview of this topic. We have been unable to confront the sins of our past as is a nation. Christian nationalists are whitewashing history and gaslighting people to not believe their own reality. Turning Point USA sends “educators” into schools to indoctrinate children to be Hitler Youth and parents are doing a lousy job of countering this malicious behavior. We are certainly on a knifes edge.
Very thought provoking. I too like the reminder of our covenant as Jews. In addition when you wrote of how people before us resisted and organized, it reminded me of my work as a library advocate alongside many other library workers committed (to quote my colleague and friend Tracie Hall) to helping “free people read freely “.
Thank you for this! So much truth to hold close and act on. I’m especially glad that you included the Indigenous people’s story. So often we start with slavery and forget the original DNA of America’s beginnings.
Thank you for reminding me what the reality has always been for People of Color. And thinking of Moses doing his best to instruct the people, knowing he would not be going to the end of the journey with them, is a reference that always touches my heart.
Brilliant! "Judaism says, Remember. Black folks say, Pay attention. Too often, America says, Forget." This is the best line I've read online in years:

Thank you ❤️
Very lovely. I like the covenant idea. Thank you for the reminder. 💜
Eloquent and to the point.

Beautifully said, ty!
Nice song; I knew what was coming.
I've been in a filthy rage the last few days. Thanks for helping me get back to a better mood. It's better to be grounded.
"filthy rage"-- yeah, that's it. That's the phrase I've been looking for every now and then. Thank you!
You know it when it shows up.
Your insights are amazing. Wow!!!
