While interesting on the plant based diet, it is incorrect that all animals deemed acceptable to eat under kosher guidelines are herbivores. Ducks, turkey and chicken are NOT herbivores. They thrive on bugs, slugs, snails, and other creatures. Chickens are known to eat their own eggs. Industrialized food will raise most poultry on grain diets because it is fast and cheap but it is not the way the animal behaves instinctually - they are all omnivores.

That's fair. I should have been clearer and said that for birds to be kosher they cannot be a bird of prey. I'll make the change.
